Ocean-Capable, Customised to suit your needs...

This website has been relaunched to herald the arrival of two new additions to the fleet, and of a new design. Now with an elegant interior fit-out featuring African mahogany.
The new skiffs have the same classic 14' Whitehall hull shape, long-proven fast and practical for rowing in open water conditions.

This design was commissioned by a local fisherman and we liked it so much we built two. The second is still available for $22,000 including GST.

Great for health & fitness

Rowing is one of the few non-weight bearing sports that exercises all of the major muscle groups and improves general muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance.

Stable, Ocean-capable Vessel

Our Open Water Rowing Skiffs combine a traditional ocean capable hull form with modern interior, biomechanics and materials. The result is an aesthetic mix of form and function that is an absolute pleasure to experience.

Highly Customisable

Our Skiffs can be rowed singular in slide-seat or fixed-seat configuration or two up in fixed-seat mode. You can also sail if you wish, with the addition of a simple rig or, if you must, hang an electric outboard motor over the transom!

More Details

The Standard Open Water Rowing Skiff consists of two bonded mouldings of Glass Reinforced Plastic. The bonding results in four compartments – two sealed buoyancy tanks and a further two storage compartments. A moulded mast socket allows the unstayed stepping of a carbon tube mast which supports a simple spritsail rig. The skiff is fitted with a slide seat, adjustable foot brace and folding outriggers to give a pin-to-pin separation of 1.6m and allowing 2.8m oar length.

The Skiff interior incorporates a central sump with drain plug located between two longitudinal seat runners. The sump cover doubles as a fixed seat for use in lieu of the slide-seat mode. There are two rowlock positions, both fitted with folding outriggers. A polyethylene battery box fits snuggly between the seat runners for use with an electric outboard.

We can customise your skiff to further accentuate the classic lines. We can give her a classic timber transom, timber gunwales and, as a piece de resistance, include a transom inlay.

Glorious Saturday Morning Row

Four months have passed without a post but not through lack of rowing!  There’ve been many rows since the Glenelg River jaunt as well as the birthing of a couple of new skiffs! No time left for wielding the quill […]

33km along the Glenelg River

This is a tale of a row on the Glenelg. It’s not open water rowing but it was a great row none-the-less and I think worthy of a blog! Indeed, this was a gathering of Whitehalls – a glamour of […]

Sailing Version

I’ve made comments  in a few posts now about the sailing rig and I can now herald the completion of a full sailing skiff. This little beauty has a swing board and a rudder with swing up blade and removable […]

Boston Island

A grey morning with a waft of sou’west breeze and some light drizzle. Maybe the sane would just roll over in bed but, trusting the forecast of clearing conditions, a Sunday adventure in the Whitehall offered a greater lure! So, […]

Controversy

To confront “Magaris” aka “Able Tasman” was the goal of this row! Confrontation in the sense of an up close encounter rather than in the critical sense of an opposition of ideas – although I admit to some concern about […]
